Intentional Listening is sonic cinema for music lovers in the age of multitasking and divided attention. We listen without conversation or devices on, for a fuller appreciation of sound as an art form.  

IL#2 is much more than a playlist or a dj set.  It has widely eclectic sounds in a flowing self-referential narrative with a structure closer to a psychedelic sound collage than a constellation of discrete connected works. Edited and augmented elements overlap significantly and in a variety of ways during 90 minutes of 35 songs and 100+ other sound sources.  It’s a micro/macro produced studio mix that brings you on a unique sonic journey.

🌷 WOAPA: All In for All Fours

The first of what Elizabeth hopes will be a regular gathering of Women of a Particular Age*. Our jumping-off point will be a discussion of Miranda July’s book, All Fours. Key words: balancing creativity and family life / perimenopause / middle-aged desire and (bi)sexuality / To Blow Up or Not To Blow Up Your Life

*aka WOAPA, pronounced wah-PAH, with the same sort of exclamatory emphasis as Kapow! (Yes, I’m trying to make this a thing.) Nonbinary and trans people of a particular age are very warmly welcomed to join the conversation ❤

🎹 Intentional Listening #2

Sonic Cinema from Scott. There will be eclectic sounds in a flowing narrative like the last one, but much more interaction between elements and a wider range of tempo. Last time Scott created a path through the pieces of music as an aural constellation made of eclectic points; this time the form will be closer to a psychedelic sound collage in which works overlap more significantly and in a variety of ways.

🎊 Crafternoon: Last Minute New Year’s Day Edition

BYO project to work on, or we can collectively dream one up for you — and hand you the necessary tools — when you get here. Work on your 2024 Ta Da! List. (Sure, you could set intentions for 2025, but first let’s celebrate what we DID do, shall we?) Write your Thank You notes; blank cards, brush pens, and stamps will be available! Snuggle with Tabitha the Studio Kitty if you need some soothing.

Or simply Do Nothing, In Real Life, With Other People.

There will be sausage stuffing 🙂

Scott has been carefully curating playlists for these sessions, during which participants will honor recorded music the way we honor films: with our silent, phone-free attention, saving discussion until the end.

🎨 Field Trip: All Star Art Club w/ Friends & Neighbors

Clement Collective exists, very simply, because of Friends & Neighbors. Several of us met and got to know each other at their events, during which we couldn’t help but ask ourselves: “Wouldn’t it be great if Art Club happened every day?” The rest is history!

🎃 Halloween Costume Viewing

Every year on Halloween, neighbors young and old come Trick or Treating along Clement Street, often in very creative costumes. We thought it would be fun to watch the festivities from our second-story, street-facing windows.
